Meet HPP's new Executive Director, Shellena Eskridge

It’s official! HPP is so excited to announce that Shellena Eskridge will now serve as the Homeless Prenatal Program’s permanent Executive Director. Shellena recently stepped in as the Interim Executive Director and served as Deputy Director prior to that. This transition marks a new era of the organization, but our commitment to families in the Bay Area remains steadfast, and we’re honored to have Shellena at the helm.

Shellena is a born and raised San Franciscan. She is dedicated to HPP’s legacy of delivering essential services to pregnant people, families, and children and excited to take our work in new and exciting directions. Prior to HPP, Shellena served the community for five years while at Larkin Street Youth Services. She is a licensed clinical social worker and an alumnus of Tuskegee University and Washington University in St. Louis.

The homelessness crisis in the Bay Area is more urgent than ever. The current need for HPP’s unique services is unprecedented. HPP will continue to provide life-changing support to low-income and homeless families because it works and it changes lives. We also understand the need to grow our scope of services to meet this moment.

You will play an important role as we expand our HPP campus - where we join our current building with a new building on an adjoining lot. This campus will provide permanent, affordable family housing alongside a full range of HPP’s support services – including expanded job training services – to create transformational opportunities for families in need.  Martha Ryan, HPP’s Founder and former Executive Director, remains in her role overseeing this project’s fundraising and development.

For 30 years, HPP has been built on a foundation of supportive, nonjudgmental, trauma informed case management to help families end the cycle of childhood poverty. As the first agency in San Francisco to hire former clients as case managers, the agency’s growth and evolution has been guided by those it serves.

We hope you’ll come meet Shellena at our upcoming Our House Gala on April 29th or sometime soon after.

As always, thank you for your commitment to HPP and to San Francisco’s families.
