Re:Birth – A Mini-Documentary

December 15, 2015 | News
The Homeless Prenatal Program is honored to premiere the video Re:Birth, by Marcia Jarmel of PatchWorks Films.

Re:Birth reframes the story of women living and raising their children in poverty from a narrative of grim statistics and helplessness to one of resilience and agency.

In their own words, the film’s storytellers – a cohort of HPP Community Health Workers (CHWs) – recall recovering from addiction, domestic violence and incarceration. But when they are offered a chance at a career as health workers serving other women in their own communities, their past hardships might just become an asset.
